All the badges come off with no holes, they are just stuck on. The chrome strip can be painted to match, or plasti-dipped. There are a few aftermarket headlight options, a few different grilles, not a lot in the way of customizing parts, but look around at other members rides, there is a lot you can do. Anyway, welcome!
Just bought 2008 Gray Impala
My dad (is a police officer) and just got a 2008 Impala from his department. As of today we just got black/silver rims and limo tint. He has had a Grand Marquis for the past couple years, and I know nothing about Chevy's unfortunately. When I get back home to check it out I plan on debadging and plasti'diping a few parts.
Can you guys give me some insight on what else can be done to these vehicles. All I've seen on eBay is the "chrome" grilles, door handles, etc. and 24" wheels on YouTube lol.
This is going to be his police take home vehicle and is equipped with police lighting.
Specifically have you guys experimented with the chrome trim on the trunk, I personally don't like it although I guess it flows with the taillights. (which I want to smoke out)
Also can I remove the chevy bow tie on the trunk lid, or will there be holes exposed, etc.?

Oh, that's great news on the rear bow tie. I will just remove it then.
I am not a fan of the aftermarket headlights, how bad is the glare with an HID kit in the OEM lights? Assuming I lower the aim of them a bit.
Any maintenance or mechanical issues I should be aware of. This one has about 85k miles.

Blend door actuators
Door lock actuators
Rear defroster burning up
Remote fob receiver only working from 10ft away
Intermediate steering shaft
Rack and pinion

Look around on eBay for headlights, there are a few different styles. You need projectors for HID's to work properly.
Don't forget EVAP canister purge valve and solenoids in the problem list.

flushing the transmission fluid isn't bad, it's just that its not nearly as effective. when you take the pan down cleaning all the soot from the pan and especially the magnet and replacing the filter ensures that no clutch material is left inside. flushes do not carry away that stuff. i just serviced mine for the first time this way at 44,000 miles and looked like the fluid was nice and red but still had that black soot which had to be removed.
Flushing the fluid is bad has nothing to do with effective ness.
Granted most flushes the shop wont drop the pan and change the filter but flushes are bad for reasons beyond that.

I really like that old battleship grey, much more than the silver. Too bad they dropped it.
Lugs, you go ahead and flush your transmission. Nobody else do it though.
It IS correlated to failures in these particular transmissions. I would not say that transmission flushes generally are always bad, but these transmissions are made out of glass and toothpicks and the flush in this particular application makes them even worse. The flush is not the primary cause of failure - the crappy transmission is the cause of failure. Several cases exist where it seem to speed up the failure though.
