Hi I just bought a 1994 camaro z28 that's in pristine condition and always kept in the garage. The problem is the engine has 98,000 miles and I'm just guessing but I'm figuring it's lost probably 20 HP and Torque off it's original stock 275 HP and 325 Torque. Therefore I was wondering would it be better to re-build/buy another first before installing a head and cam that would boost me up to 450 HP and Torque or would I still get close to the same numbers.....?

don't fix it if it ain't broke.

That said add shit till it brakes then fix the short block.
What you think it can take is only about a 1/3 of what it will.

Dud you are talkin bout the American small-block V8.

unless you have internal damage, the block should be fine. headers, heads, cam, port the intake are all good mods. Gears are the best bang for your $
