Hey everyone! Introducing my newly purchased 2012 Impala 9C3.

I was told that it was an ex federal use vehicle, not sure for what or how often it was used. It looks to have had lights mounted in the back window and on the windshield in front of the visor. It is also VERY clean with 59K miles. I have never driven such a large sedan that handles as well as this one does. You can plow into a corner and not worry about understeer, as the suspension, bigger swaybars and the stabilitrak is calibrated differently than all other Impalas. It has a "Performance Mode" when you turn off the traction control which wasn't available until 2012 on the 9C1/9C3 I think. I'm sure all other 9C1/9C3 owners know what I mean about how well these cars handle right from the factory.

So far I have installed eBay tinted taillights, tinted the windows myself with 15% side and 5% on the back window, and installed clear corner headlights. I have also done some fluid changes - oil and brake fluid so far. Soon it needs a trans fluid change, power steering, and coolant.

Future plans include:

Full carpet install
GM accessory exhaust tip install
Trifecta or Overkill tune
Possibly Lowering springs and put on my matte black OZ Ultraleggera's I have laying around.

Quick picture I took today:

Looking for many years of fun with this car, and here on the forums.

Welcome to the forum

Your 9C3 has kind of a blank look to it, perhaps it was a "ghost car". Nyuk

Not sure what went wrong with your upload but you can try it again.
Maybe downsize the file size or use a different photo hosting service ?

Actually, it only works on my primary device - so the picture must have initially worked and it was cached after I first viewed it on my primary device... It doesn't work on any other device - so the picture was working, but then quit working (apparently)...

EDIT: Updated OP so that picture works...

Maybe it's the clear lens on the headlights that give it that look? lol

Sorry about that, I was using my google photo account but I don't think I have it set to public which could be the issue.

Thanks for fixing it! Also, just the man I need to talk to if I decide to get a HP tuner. Would you be willing to sell your personal tune? I followed the thread about it and you seem like you have yours tweaked pretty good.

Welcome! Nice 9C3
Thanks!

No, I would never even think about selling my tune - but I would be glad to give it to anyone free of charge! However, please do realize that all-out performance was NOT the goal of my tune - my tune is more for "comfort", which is kind of the opposite of what most people want it a tune. :) For example, I made my shifts a little "slower" instead of "quicker" because I didn't want to feel the shifts (the quicker that they are, the more "obvious" they are). My tune also probably gets worse gas mileage than the stock tune - again, I'm going after "comfort", not "performance" or "gas sipping". :)

But by all means - I will gladly share my tune - at the very least, you can use it as a learning aid by seeing what I changed and me explaining *why* I changed it (HPTuners also has a "compare" function, so you can compare the stock tune with my tune to see exactly what I changed).

Also, please realize that I am an amateur at this stuff and learning as I go! While I haven't had any adverse effects from my changes, I also can't guarantee that they aren't any long-term issues with what I've done. :) My changes are pretty small though, so I don't foresee any major issues from the changes I've made.

Where did you get your 9C3? I have a 2008 9C3 that was also a federal law enforcement vehicle. I am looking for another 9C3, but one with the 3.6. Thanks!

Awesome, thank you very much! I am set on the HP Tuners so I will be contacting you soon. At the very least your tune will help me get started in learning what to do.

I found mine up in PA and had it shipped to VA from a small dealer called Levittown Auto. They have a 2013 white 9C1 with the spotlight right now. Talk to Robert, he's a super nice guy and very accommodating and will work with you on getting the car ready to ship if you need to.

Here's the link to the 9C1 for sale right now where I bought my car from:

Hope this helps!

Looks like a great car. I have a black 2006 9C3 that I bought in 2009. Had it nearly 9 years now and it's been a fantastic car, especially once I dropped an Overkill Tune and Transgo Shift Kit in it. Also did the Don Romes. Have put 85,000 miles on it and it's had very few issues whatsoever. I enjoy working on it and it's a pleasure to drive. Good luck with yours!

I'm back! I sold my Silver 2012 9C3 for some stupid reason I can't remember back in April, and after owning two other cheaper troublesome cars I knew what I needed.. another 9C3!

It's a 2014 9C3 Limited Police. They changed nothing but badges it looks like on the limited Impalas. I have the same plans, minus the lowering and wheels since I don't have the wheels anymore. She needs a good detail and I have a ceramic coating kit I'm going to apply this week.

Glad to be back in an Impala!

Thought I'd update everyone on my 2014 9C3 Limited. I have done A LOT to it over the past couple of months. I'm still glad I got another Impala!

ZZP lowering springs
Front and rear GM Performance strut tower bars with DR brackets
Rear Addco sway bar
Front GM Performance sway bar
17" American Racing AR928 wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport AS3's
Spyder smoked taillights
Black housing/clear corner headlights
Installed a new carpet kit to replace the vinyl flooring

Soming soon:
Trifecta tune
20's arriving next week!
Maybe a Magnaflow exhaust in the future

Some quick pictures I took at work last week:
