A 4th or 5th generation Impala would be my dream daily driver. I know i'd have to screw around on it from time to time to keep it road worthy but my only real problem would be the fuel efficiency.

Now I'm not sure If I'll get accused of raping a classic here but I'd drive the car around a lot (40-50 miles per day).

So if I only get 10 miles per gallon this would be EXPENSIVE. What could be done do get a better gas mileage? An engine swap for a more modern engine? Installing an LPG tank? Replacing the carburetor?

My grandmother had a 65 Impala ss. 283 powerglide.

It would deliver 21 highway.
I had a 69biscayne with 427 t 400 3.08 gears and could get 16 highway, WHEN i drove it easy.

Gas today is junk.
