I have a impala ls 2003 and i want to do a ''little'' modification .... I want to put a 6.2 from the ZR1 vette with a 6speed manual transmission into it !!!! I'm fucking crazy :yahoo: I want to find a information for diff.

In the spec for ZR1 (75.9 in) and the Impala (73 in) for the width. Can i cut the diff for fitting under the car ????

To complicated the project, i want vette interior in the impala (front seat and dash).

I need help for the project. At this time is only on paper for plan but i need help :gaah:

Thanks for helping me

I have a very lots of time for losts
This makes about as much sense to me as your plan, given that per your other posts, you have between 200,000 and 300,000 miles on the body and around this time last year, you were talking about putting a 5.3 SS engine in your car and making it a manual transmission.

Ok so anyone who restores cars that are just piles of scrap and rust should be throwing stones. Yes last year my plan was to get my v8 keeping traction. Plans have changed. I want to have a unique car altogether. I just wanted to take my info here because you are maniacs impala.

It means that there's a guy who just jumped to 40 km high so my project is not so crazy. Sunfire in a GTO replica of an impala with a corvette below must be realistic

BTW there's the crazy ideas that change not so if you think you may be able to help me so much better if you close ....

Not only do you need lots of time but also lots of money for you will have to custom fab a lot of work to make this happen. First of all I won't even deal with the donor car since you know what you are wanting from it which is good. But you will need to make a center tunnel in the Impala for the drive axle's drive shaft to go. Plus you will need to make that tunnel larger under the dash for the transmission housing to fit. You might be able to cut the tunnel from the Corvette but most likely you will have to custom fab the whole thing. Plus you will need to know where to restrengthen the center tunnel area to add back the rigidity of the vehicle since this vehicle is uni-body and not body on frame. You will also need to make a sub frame for under the hood to mount the engine to, plus costume engine and tranny mounts.

You might get away with just installing the rear axle as it is, if not a costume machine shop should be able to help cut it down. But I would strongly try not to do so.

You may find that to install the Corvette seating that you will need to make new seat mount brackets to install on your Impala.

If you do go through with this please keep us posted with pics on your progress.

If you have the required fabrication knowledge and skills, go for it. If not, it will cost a few bucks to have the work done, but you'll have a cool/unique machine for sure :)

In the early 90s, I saw a few Chevy Lumina coupes converted to RWD for racing.

^^^ RWD is only one of the things he wants to do. He also wants manual tranny, corvette interior, and a ZR1 engine.......in a 2003 Impala with about a quarter million miles on it. I simply have a hard time believing he is totally serious. I have been wrong before though, and as stated, if he really does it, I would love to see it.

Let's put it this way....

$4k car, $20k LS9, $20k in misc., plus other costs associated. At $44k you can almost get yourself a CTS-V.
2010/2011 CTS-V or a new Camaro SS - already with RWD and a manual tranny and likely as fast as a 2003 Impala with the ZL1/ZR1 engine due to aerodynamics, etc ...and a warranty......or a 2011/2012 Chrysler 300 SRT-8 (no manual tranny though).

Thats pretty conservative, I'm thinking he would be very lucky to get out of this any less than $100k. All on a high mileage uni-body car that probably already half rusted to pieces.

So many buzz kills in a thread.
If it was just a cool thread, where we were talking hypotheticals, and fantasy cars, that would be 1 thing. But claiming that you are actually intending to try it, or seriously consider it, is another story.
