My impala has been locking when i start my car up and then the radio goes off and it stops driving after awhile. The other day i was driving and the car stopped runnin and wouldn't start up i used the extra key i had and it started right up. i have swithched keys before. What is the problem and how do i get it fixed.

A friend had the same problem, engine would run for 10-30 min's. and then shut down. Some times would start with spare key/some times not. Had to have conputer replaced. suggest you ck with dealer for recall on your veh.

Since it involves the security immobilizer system, it might be easiest to just take it to a GM Dealer.

Sounds like you have a security key problem. Use the spare key exclusively for a while and see if the problem goes away. If so, have a new key made. If the problem still occurs, there may be a problem with the module that reads the coded key. A trip to the dealer will then be required to get it resolved>
