will a HVIII fit on my 2004 Impala SS? If so do anyone know any good places to purchase them via links?

hope that helps a bit, basically, there are knock sensors in our cars, the pcm pulls timing to prevent knock (detonation.) to keep you from blowing up your engine.
You can grab a used LS1M (palm pilot) scanner for about $100 used that will scan for KR, and other things, or gauges like these

IPWs (inj. pulse width) is also very important to monitor when dropping pullies, you dont want to max out your injectors @ say a 3.5 pulley, and then add a 3.4 pulley, you'll run too lean and bam, no more engine. (the pulley sizes were just examples) IIRC the STOCK injs max out around a 3.4", but let me see if i can find some more data to support that before you worry too much. Also if you dont have a proper tune for your pulley, you can run into a whole other set of headaches, aside from just not maximizing efficiency.
