I have a 2007 Impala LTZ with the 3.9 3/6 cylinder light/heavy load option.
the car has 63 thou miles on it, an a vibration has developed when in high gear light
load when on the highway which dissapears apon increasing speed or when car
shifts down to standard regular 6 cylinder operation. No one seems to know at this
time what the problem or fix is....

I have the 3.9 L without DOD and it's a very good engine. I think 3 cylinders might be too few to properly power an Impala.

80,000, no issues. There is vibration at low speeds in 3 cyl. mode when slightly loaded. Knowing what it is, I ignore it. Gets better mileage than a friends 09 without the 3/6 cylinder option, but similar to my 06 without it. Wife drives the 06, probably why.

97k miles here. without 3 cyl option. running just as strong as 40k miles ago. The only problem i have had was a leaky OPSU. Cheap easy fix and good as new :yahoo:

I think the 8th generation Impalas are good cars for the most part. Just don't push them too hard and you shouldn't have any problems.

Running 140,000 on an 06 and only had to put $150 worth of work in the transmission so far. I'm really impressed with this car. Good running engines.
