NO!!! Dont go thru all that trouble just to find out your in the wrong place. On the passenger side, there is a black plastic piece that comes off and out by pressing in the tabs. Pretty much kneel down by the floor board up front (below the glove box) and you will see this piece. Remove it and it will expose wiring and such. There are 2 things here that are plugged in....one for the blower fan and the other for the rheostat (the thing that controls the fan in speeds 1,2 and 3. 4 is controlled by a relay under the hood that you wont touch for this.
Anyhow, the one closest to you will be held by 2-3 small screws. Unplug the connector attached to it,remove the screws and it will simply fall straight down. It will have some coils and resistors and some are likely burned up. Replace this unit with a new one and re install in reverse procedure.
