just for thrills, no serious racing, i happend to "race" and 06 model impala and he pretty much left me in the dust. with the gov't chip, my car max's out at 110. i guess i want a faster start but i dont wanna ruin my engine either. i have no engine mods or anything. suggestions? like i said im not a hard core racer but you know the feeling when someone pulls up to you reving their engine.. you dont wanna go down like a punk lol. by the way i am a girl *wink*
Depending on your motor, you can do a lot to get the Impala faster. Mind you, without going to forced induction (turbo/supercharger) you'll really never get the Impala faster than 15s in the quarter mile. With both engines the 00-05 Impalas came with you can do these mods to boost your horsepower and decrease your quarter mile time:
1. Install a Fender Wall Intake [FWI] (example: http://www.naioa.com/v2/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=14216)
2. Open up the exhaust with a new downpipe: This is for the 3.8L V6. You will want to get the following options: 2.5 Inch bolt-in with Cat, Add Rear O2 Extension for 04, and Add Front and Rear Gaskets.

3. Install a dual cat-back exhaust: The GM part number is 12498617 and you will need the hangers p/n 12498653. You can get it for the best price here: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=214429
4. Custom tuned ZZP PCM (3800 Only): You'll want the following options: Year 2004, Model: Impala LS, none selected, stock gearing, stock injectors, Rear O2 deleted

These mods are a great place to start with modding your Impala. You can get a custom tuned PCM, which will really help you in the long run with these mods.
Those are the first steps in getting more out of your Impala. If you're really interesrted in getting the most out of your ride, check out NAIOA: http://www.naioa.com. NAIOA is the largest W-Body Impala club on the internet, and you'll find tons of useful information about your car and how you can mod it to make it go faster.
Yea my 2001 impala really blows.... It really blows by people when i mash the pedal down.... MMMMM gotta love the sound of turbo..... And that BOV
Not having an SS model makes it harder but not impossible check out some of the 3800 websites like www.3800performace.com or www.intense-racing.com
but getting a custom computer or your computer reprogrammed is the first place to start, i have an 04 SS with a DHP tuned computer and its great, and there is no top speed limiter i have done 150+ in mine. but a computer, cold air intake, cat back exhaust and u-bend delete is a good place to start
Going 150 MPH in a W-Body car that NOWHERE in the design process anybody even THOUGHT about going that fast is kinda like masturbating in public. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
However, a 65 SS Big Block convert. car sounds preeeetty tasty! Nice machine!
Ya open up that exhaust, QUICK!
3.25 w/ no other supporting mods = KR = BOOM!
headers or p-log (zzp)
properly tuned PCM (hate to say it but hypertech is garbage) www.getoverkilled.ca
Vital- Post some vids and shut these guys up
And whats the difference between a B-Body going 150 and a W-body doing the same? Your boat anchors werent orig designed to do 150+, but aftermarket parts/ImpSS pkg make it possible right? We have a decent selection of aftermarket parts that make it safer for us to go higher speed/quicker down the 1320.
Most if us didnt buy our cars to "mod them". I know i sure the hell didnt, but i got sucked in. My 04 LS started as a lease, waiting for GM to put something decent out (wasnt thrilled w/ the GTO). Cammed it, the top swap (still as a lease) But had too much fun so held on to it. Im not the fastest, but I still enjoy blowing by bolt on rustangs, camaros, etc...and the looks i get even keeping as close as i do to others, is priceless.
hmm.... Someone mentioned to get used to the rear view of a fwd Wimpala..... I would imagine thats before you use the shoulder to get around it Turbo or not, its all good
Get rid of the hypertech and go with a custom tuned PCM i had the hypertech and got rid of it when i went to a smaller pulley, they wouldnt support futher mods they are designed for a stock vehicle only.
His shit is pretty fast. but i mean just listen and search the past threads for some upgrades, these v6's are underrated, and when equipped right, pretty fast!
Good luck!
