Don't forget to lube it up before you stick it in.
lol. Ok that sounds bad (on purpose?) Seriously do lubricate the friction surface with a little assembly lube, and prelube the moving parts inside the pump with some oil before assembly even a few seconds dry running it can ruin it.
I've replaced more old school chevy FP's than I care to think about, have never lubed or primed anything. Never had a come back either.
You really want him to put oil into the fuel pump....? Pour a little gas in ..maybe...but oil?
