Help with my 2003 Impala

A few days ago I was driving and noticed the car running sluggish. I noticed it wouldn't get over 3500 rpm. So I took it home and parked it. Didn't have time to look at it that night. The next day it wouldn't start.
Everytime I try to start it it starts to go then kills immediately. I asked around and everyone told me its the catalytic converter. So I cut the cat off and it still won't start.

I'm kind of at a loss right now. My next attempt is going to be the MAF sensor I think. I don't want to put a ton of money into it.

Any ideas?

I was thinking fuel pressure regulator.

.
Is it throwing any codes?
Start with the basics. You know you have spark because it is firing. Air shouldn’t be a problem.
I agree with Doug, could be fuel. Rent a fuel pressure tester from an auto parts store and check the pressure key on and also cranking/firing.
Also check the connections of hoses/wires on the throttle body.
The only code I'm getting is a P0480 code. But I only have a cheap reader.
P0480= cooling fan#1 control circuit malfunction. Cat codes would be: p0420 (bank#1) and/or p0430 (bank#2).

Swapped out fuel pressure regulator. No dice.
I’d look at the fuel pump or fuel pump relay.
