Hey there, here to introduce myself.
I'm from MD and just graduated high school, and I've had my Impala for almost a year. I bought my 2003 Impala LS in July of 2010, and I just got around to finding a forum to join with fellow owners. I hoped to buy an Impala as my first car, ever since my uncle (a huge car guy) let me drive his '05 Impala SS, and that helped me make up my mind. I was thrilled to find my car for such a deal, and paying for it with the majority of the money I had saved from working my restaurant job made it feel so much nicer. I'm the car's second owner, and I took delivery when it had 69400 miles. I've put over $1000 into it for maintenance (new front brakes, inspection, two small leaks, minor check engine light fix), but otherwise it's treated me very well. In the future I'll need to invest in new tires ($$) and I have an appointment this Wednesday 6/22 to get 50% window tints all around.
Peace for now.

If it were an SS Supercharged, I'd have Corsa dual exhaust by now, but since it's a naturally-aspirated stock 3.8L, I'll save performance mods for my next Chevy after college. Haha, just tints for now, probably not anything major in the near future, as keeping it stock keeps it low-key as my daily driver to hopefully get me through the next 5yrs.

peace

I think you can swap the S/C components fairly easily, I've seen kits on eBay for not that much if I remember correctly

Good to see a young guy with some sense, check your local laws for the tint or you may end up having to redo it, and paying a fine as well.....Oh ...welcome.

Thanks for the feedback and comments guys, it means a lot.
- I doubt I'll be swapping the SC from an SS or Grand Prix GXP, I'll save forced-induction for my post-college whip :eek:k3:
-As for the tint, the place I got mine done (Dr. Tint & Details in MD) did a pretty darn good job, for just under $200 with a discount. Concerning the legality, the 50% tint film is advertised as MD legal (MD law is must allow 35% or more light through, VLT), so I went with 50% High-Performance SunTek film rather than (illegal) 35% film which is actually more common around here despite the law. They told me that since cars come with about 70% tint (allowing 70% light through) from the factory, putting a 50% film (.70 x .50) would yield a total of 35% after tint (allowing 35% light through), and it's not very dark, but I really like how it turned out. I will be pissed, however, if i get pulled over and/or fined for the tint job, because the film I had installed was the lightest anyone around here offers (50%).
-I'll have pictures up in about a month of my whole Impala (inside/out, tints, etc). I need to wait a month after the tints were installed to wash the windows inside/out so I'll just clean it all up real well late-July. After that, I'll give IOTM a shot :icon_cool:

Peace for now.
