possibly shorting out so the car thinks the His were on, but not enough of a ground to actually turn them on....
I know you can run a jumper wire from the ground inside the light harness to turn all 4 lights on at once, and FWIW, the DRLs are the hibeam lights
good to hear you got it fixed though, how much of a PITA was the repair?
