When it happened to me it was my fuel sending unit, but i heard of the actual gauge going bad before, so might want to check that first
Got Gas?!?
Well I finally got my car started,,but,, I noticed my gas gauge jumped to full while it only had a gallon. So now its stuck on full. Has this happened to anyone?!?

Its the fuel sending unit in your gas tank. Mine has been bad for 2 years I just go by the mileage
