Hello I have a 2002 w/ a 3.4L & 135k.
3 weeks ago I replaced the intake gasket then one week later the timing housing cover gasket had to be replaced.
I was wondering what I should expect next as far as the cooling system goes. I replaced the radiator and water pump a few years ago.
I know it's 20yrs old and all. It runs well though.
Thanks

Change coolant every 30,000-40,000 miles and these problems are non-existent. The coolant becomes acidic from time/use and it then EATS GASKETS. My old job we all had Impalas for company cars. I changed mine on above schedule, my boss did not. His needed intakes and mine did not. My son in law bought my turned in car and advised him of proper maintenance which he did. His Impala was still going strong at 140K with no gasket failures.
