I have a 2002 chevy impala. Every time I leave the key in the ignition and open the door when the car is not running the dinging noise comes on to tell me the keys are still in the ignition. I take them out an the noise doesn't stop. I have no idea why this happens but would like so help if anyone knows anything.

Try running the key in and out a couple times, make sweet key love to it. If it stops when you mess with it I would suspect a bad ignition switch.

I want to say they used to make cars like that. I know someone with a police edition Impala that does it. I'm not familiar with your model year, but maybe you have a fuse you can pull?

I've found that it helps to actually fix the problem, not just pull the fuse, or put a piece of tape over the check engine light.
