I replaced the CV axle seal and Hub front drivers side. When I removed the Axle i saw the seal was leaking. Got a new seal but was having a hard time removing the old seal. I did a search here on this forum and found a great way to remove the old seal. Simply drill a hole in the seal keeping in mind you dont damage the hole. Screw a wood screw into it and pull. It worked most excellent .... Until i saw that I missed the hole and the #$%# screw went into the rubber possibly scoring the rim So I checked the hole it had a slight score on the inside. I gave it a touch with some emery and install the seal. Just Tested drove it and trany juice is leaking from the Axle seal. i have no idea what to do about it. I have just started researching this . Hopefully someone could point me in the right direction as far as links and whatnot. Photos of the seal with #8 wood screw and hole beside. My excuse for this is Im an old fart and all that ngoes with it.

So plan is to replace the seal again taking extreme care of the replacement and have a good look at the transmission housing and see what my options are as far replacing the housing if it leaks again. It may not be the scoring on the housing that is causing the leaking

Take out the seal again. Put some great stuff gasket maker where the gouge is. Smooth it out with your finger, and install a new seal. Also, did you inspect the axle for damage. If it is also gouged, put a new axle in it.
Thank you 1954 chevy. That is the way i was planing on going. Only this time it wont be in my wet snow covered gravel driveway and with a lot more caution.
