Lately when cruising in areas where the speed limit is around 45 mph, I've noticed that when accelerating lightly but steadily away from a stop, when the trans in my 2000 3.8 equipped Impala shifts from drive to overdrive, there is a momentary spike in rpm (about 2-300) before it actually engages into OD. Is this communicating a problem. Car has about 140K miles on it, has been well taken care of and has been a great car to this point....if that matters. Can anyone lend any thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance.
Ken.

BTW, the fluid is normal color and smell and is about 3/16" above the add 1 pint mark, hot, idling in park. Figured someone might ask.
Thanks.

I don't know for sure, but it sounds like probably the 3-4 shift solenoid is going bad.
