What's up Guy's,

I would like to know has anyone ever done a do-it-yourself transmission flush at home? You know...Remove the transmission cooler line and let all the fluid drain in a bucket while refilling the transmission fluid thru the dipstick. I have a 03 Impala Ls, 3.8L V6 engine, I'm dropping the pan and changing my transmission fluid/filter and thought about taking off one of my transmission line's to get all the old fluid completely out so i would like a few tip's on the procedure:cool:, Any Idea's:dunno:

Never done it without a transmission flush machine. A word of caution though if you attempt to do it via the oil cooler lines. Transmission fluid will flow out of the hose very fast, so fast that it will come out faster than you can poor it in threw the dipstick tube. Not to mention that it will make a BIG mess!
Instead of flushing it by the way of the cooler lines, do a spill N fill, then drive it and make sure the transmission shifts up and down threw all the gears several times, then drop the pan again and refill. Most of the fluid should be changed this way and you can change the filter either the first or second time you drop the pan.

You can also run 2 5 gallon pails. Put the line leaving the cooler into a pail full of new tranny fluid and the hose coming to the cooler into an empty one and run it through the gears until the fluid leaving the tranny runs clean. I suggest having someone assist.

I have a quick question maybe you can help me with, I'm not sure which cooler line is the return or supply line, Is the top line the supply or return?...Any Idea's?
