Coolant Questions

Hi, all,
I bought an '02 Impala LS that's throwing the 'LOW COOLANT LEVEL' warning. Sometimes it goes out, but it's on more than it's off. I added some PEAK Orange Antifreeze and Coolant before realizing I should've used a Dex-Cool product. Regardless, the warning message still comes and goes. The reservoir has coolant above the HOT fill line, so a leak seems unlikely. So, my questions: 1) could a sensor be misreading the coolant quantity? 2) Will the PEAK coolant cause damage? 3) Is there a way to drain the PEAK coolant to replace with a Dex-Cool product? Should I bother?

Thanks in advance, y'all.

  1. Peak Orange is fine for Dexcool vehicles.
  2. If the actual coolant level is ok, then the warning message itself is at fault. Sensor could be giving up the ghost....perhaps the harness connectors going to from the sensor are corroded and need to be cleaned.....
