Anyone have one of these? http://coldairinductions.com/W-BodyLS4V8ColdAirBox.html
I am wondering if they are worth the money?

I looked into those a while back and they look like a filter with a tinfoil box around them. But its either them or KN I haven't found anyone else that mass produces one for the 5.3
The box appears to made of I'm guessing 3/16" aluminum. The inside of the box is covered with some type of heat reflecting material. I think all that appears to be quality, I'm wondering what type of air filter they are useing? Do you think it is a K&N?
Nah, its probably one they made it just looks alot like a K&N. I emailed them asking what kinds of gains are to be expected and what kind they've seen from impala's and grand prix gxp.
Would you go with the K&N? Or do you think they will reply to your email? If so, will you share what they said?
thanks
They do look very similar, only thing I can see is the tubing is different. Plus those were for the older model imps. CAI responded back and said anywhere from 12-15hp gain, but thats what K&N claims aswell. Price isn't that much different about $20 or so. Me personally I think I'm gonna go with the K&N just for namesake.
I'm trying to find out more about the air cleaner that comes with it. I'll pass along what I find out.
Here is a link to their filters:

I'm thinking that I'll go with this unit.
CAI is worth it.

I just put that unit in and it's will worth it. It looks really nice and made to last. The workmanship is top notch. I looked at the K&N and just couldn't see how it was suppose to be Cold Air with a heat bracket that looks to still have plenty of heat being sucked in to the intake. Check out my post with Pic's.
i have a 2008 lt impala i am jus woundering what kind of engine modifications would i be able to make i have found out that there is not a supercharger for my year and gm hasn't released anything so any info will help
3.9: what is its derivation?

I just bought an Impala LTZ with the 3.9. I don't know much about the 3.9. Is it simply the 3800 engine bored out slightly, or is it the old 3.4 bored out? I was just wondering. thanks

The 3.9 is part of an all-new family of advanced overhead valve, V-6 engines from GM. Not from the 3.8L or 3800 engine or block or 3.4L.
Rush Filters

That a look at these filters.

awesome info.

I am really interested in performance mods for my 3.9 but it doesn't seem like there is anything really bolt on ready.
So you drudge up a 3yr old thread has ZERO info about intakes?
Are you being smug to prove some kind of point? or is it for your own amusement?
I simply responded to a "related thread" where I felt value was added. I did not realize there was a date stamp.
