Open the drivers door and right on the side of the dash, next to the vents you will see a panel that says fuses with a little lightning bolt. Pull that off and you will see them all there and their locations listed on the rear of your panel you took off.

Mine says "Cig/aux" and it's 10amp.

 

When my rear lighter didn't power my gps I found that te fuse for THAT particular lighter is on the passenger side, same location and it's under "AUX PWR".

My friend and I have been trying to fix this damn lighter for a couple days and thanks to you its now fixed. We didn't know there was another fuse box on the passenger side we were trying to replace the whole thing when I found your post. Again thank you. Now we are members of the forum...

Yea, mine were two 20 AMP fuses under the driver side kick panel.

 

I have a 2005 impala and both fuse boxes have a fuse for the cigarette lighter. Problem is that even with both fuses removed I'm still getting power to one of them. Any ideas which fuse it may actually be?


Edit: Nevermind, it was the 20 amp aux not the 15 amp cig

 

Hey guys. I replaced both fuses (AUX and cig) and the cigarette lighter still doesn't work. The light in the pull out ash tray works though. Do you think my problem is the 12v receptacle themselves? Or further down the pipe?

 

I have a similar issue, but my fuses are good and the wires are good. I replaced both sockets and still nothing. Anyone have any ideas? I have a 02 Impala LS

Have you checked for 12v at the connector that plugs into the socket? If you have that then it’s the socket still giving you trouble. If you don’t have 12v then work your way back to the fuse box, but I think it is near the socket area where your problem is.
