I wouldn't wait for the light by then it could be to late and they will be telling you that you should have brought it in sooner so they aren't gonna cover it.
If I trash the transmission Not a big deal since my grandpa said he will help me get a new one or a used one from pick a part with low miles.

In the end I may look for one with low miles since it will be cheaper then replacing the parts if I can not get warranted.

At 1200rpm it seems a little ruff, once passed it, it's fine.

Why wouldnt you go get your brand new trans fixed instead of getting one from a junk yard.

Better yet why start a thread for help if your not gonna listen to it
it's not brand new it's a Rebuild transmission from a 00 I think that has 88k Probably a leak as well since It was down 1 qt (unless they were to cheap to fill it up)

How is your transmission fluid level?
full before it thew the codes the two times

the fluid was low before though. (down 1 qt). (not sure if 1qt is a lot for this car)

The thermostat never got much passed the middle (which I assume is normal operating temperature. )

I can take it on the highway tonight what should I be hearing/looking for?
doing some research on it

P0741 - TCC System Stuck Off - 3800Pro.com Forum

The RPMs stay at 3000 RPMS when ever I travel at 60mph or above

it is shifting into 4th.

no other codes have been set with this code

other than the high RPMs shifting is fine.

I assuming I do not have the same issue as that guy. as my seems to run at normal rpms

I have AAA towing just in case.

Should I try it on a up and down hill part or flat part of the freeway? (I do have a choice between the two..)

Please note the light came on when I was fully stopped both times

Fully stopped in drive-thu first time, second time was in left turn lane

rear window defroster was on the first time + Heater 2.
Heater was on 5 second time when the light came on.

I have little experience with torque converters but the little searching I did says the code will come on if the TCC doesn't engage in D4 or if it doesn't disengage when it should (out of D4). Maybe yours isn't disengaging. Either way, it isn't something easily diagnosed and I would recommend the dealer.

Dealer or a good transmission shop.

Transmissions can be tricky
Light went off by it self..

I think it could be a faulty brake switch. since it did come up when the brake was pressed

idleing at a little bit lower RPM's today 680rpm at a stop light

I putting my money on a faulty brake switch.. only cost $20 so it's worth a try.

cheaper then tearing apart the transmission and nothing is wrong with it.

Why would you think a break switch would pop a TCC code?
brake switch is a relay for the TCC

brake switch activates the TCC.

I have to do the highway test i'll be going on a trip on the 24th so I can test it then.

highway test would confirm it.

I see that code can be caused by low fluid level but it's full now and it never showed when it was actually low.

Was not able to take it down to get it repair as my grandpa insist for me to take it to another shop and is willing to fork out 2 grand to get it fixed. ouch. I all ready know why the transmission fail since they forgot to add fluid to it before giving it back to the previous owner.

by the time I added some it was too late.. hence the code p0741

If it was a newer car it would not be a big deal but i do not want him spending 2k on it since it's almost 10 years old.

Always check all the fluids before you buy a car.

You'd be surprised how many cars iv gone to buy to flip and people dont even have oil in them.

So what are you gonna do with it?
Get it fixed over in LA 90 miles drive but it's better then paying $1600-1800 to get it fixed over here.

I can just drive it there and my dad will take another car as it maybe there a few days.

After getting it fixed I'm sure the gas mileage will go up as well
