catalytic converter problem

If you want to remain legal on the road, just buy a cheap magnaflow cat from your local exhaust shop.... if you want cheap, just straight pipe it, but you won't be able to pass state inspection... How do you know for certain the cat is needing replaced? Do you have any codes or are you just getting some exhaust rattle?
It's been giving me the traditional rotten egg smell and if I drive to places that's about 30 minutes far the engine will start shaking while I'm parked at stop lights. I bought a converter back in June but couldn't find where the cat was located at.

The car is the curved portion, not the straight. The straight is the resonator.

You should have used rockauto and just bought a direct replacement. I did that for only $173.

Depending on its age its often cheaper, time wise, to take it to a shop. Why waste 5 hours taking off bolts that are rusted beyond help when a shop can do the entire job in 30 minutes?

When you get to be my age you will realise that your time IS money. And its worth alot more than a half hour of labour.
