I own a 2005 impala 3.4 L base. It has 124,xxx miles. For the past week when i go to start my car it clicks as if the battery is dead. On the second or third try it starts normally. Let me add that my battery is a $300 optima batttery. Can the it be the starter or alternator. Please help?:bang:

It isn't the alternator, that has nothing to do with starting. And it doesn't matter what battery you have, I'd still have a load test done to check. Could be the starter, could be the ignition switch.

Best bet is to remove it and have it tested at the auto parts store, but if the engine is turning over the starter can't be the problem, thats all its for.
