Also check your distributor base timing? If to far advanced that can also cause it to stall.
Your car should idle at about 600 RPM's with the transmission in Drive and the distibutor vacuum line disconnected and pluged. Have some one help you when making the adjustments.
Ask your mechanical friends if anyone has a devise to read the RPM's. If not you can ask your local Auto Parts Store and they should have one you can buy. Might even just install a Tach so you will always have a reference.
