Hey Guys,

The time has come and I need to start looking at and Impala. I have wanted one for a long time and have been looking into them pretty seriously lately. I have been looking at the 2000 to 2002 years and really like the LS but not sure if I can finance one at this time. Which is the better motor, the 3.4 or 3.8? I hear they are pretty close to the same MPG, are they? What should I look for when buying an Impala? Any thing in particular i should look for? Can i expect it to last many years (200,000 miles) without many repairs? Just wondering what you guys have to say since most of you have them and know everything about them. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Eric

Well, here is my 2 cents... In my opinion, if you can do all the work yourself on it like maintainance (to save money)... I think any car will last you for many years. To me when I have looked at used cars, it kinda scares me a bit. Cause I don't have the money to put into a car if something breaks or goes wrong with it. As for MPG on the Impala... I know my 07 gets good MPG. But the gas prices are killing me where I live! Kinda makes me wish I would have waited to get an 08 Impala LTZ so I could have had the advanced fuel management. Then it wouldn't have been so bad. I know you said you want an older one, but gas is still going up. There's a lot to think about now a days since gas prices started becoming outrageous in some places. Once my lease is over in 2010. I don't know what I am going to do. But what ever I decide, I will still be driving a GM vehicle.
Also, here is another website I like to look at when I am thinking about getting a car and need more opinions:

Which ever car you get... I hope you will be happy with it and the gas will not kill ya.
