Depends how long you plan on having it and how much you are going to spend. Give us a little more background on both cars.

Cost of repairs I would go with the Chevy.

There are alot of small things that most smaller shops won't even fuck with on BMW's because of the headaches.

Not to scare anyone off but the last BMW of that model we had here was a whopper....not even 100k on the clock and it needed a timing chain (actually more than one chain on the pos the repair in our book called for 39 hours labor and over $5000 the dealer had the same 39 hours labor but was $7900. You do the math, a impala/caprice rarely if ever needs a chain, if it does it takes only a few hours, not a whole week!
