On my '12/'13's, on a cold engine with coolant tank cap loosened/removed to vent, I drain it out of the petcock. Next, I tighten the petcock by hand only (remember it's plastic, lol) and refill to the top of the tank/cap with Dexcool 50/50 mix. Then I "hand milk" every accessible top coolant hose and top off to the top of the tank/cap. After a couple of drive cycles, level settles where it needs to be.

Hello Folks,

While looking at some videos on changing coolant in an Impala or any car in general, I see people doing things to get the air out of the system.
But when I look at my engine bay, I don't see any of the caps or ports they use. How do I bleed the air out of my 2012 Impala LT.

The video here is what I'm talking about where they seem to have ports that mine doesn't have

I have attached a picture of my engine bay if that helps.

Purchase and use this: https://www.amazon.com/Lisle-24680-Spill-Free-Funnel/dp/B00A6AS6LY/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2QNZ09GT9LHVO&keywords=Lisle+24680&qid=1665332115&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIxLjI0IiwicXNhIjoiMS4xMyIsInFzcCI6IjAuOTkifQ==&sprefix=lisle+24680,aps,257&sr=8-1

I have this very useful kit and have used it on my 2014 Impala 2LTZ (new model) and previous 8th generation model Impalas. I have also used it on Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep products.

It is easy to use and a very clever design. You only need to drain your system, then use one of the adapter metal caps with a plastic insert fitting and the funnel to refill the system via your coolant reservoir jug (after removing the existing cap).

You can refill the system, leave the funnel attached and allow your vehicle to run with the heat setting (fan and temperature) on high. This will purge most of the air bubbles. The funnel has a clever rod that you insert if there is extra fluid, and you can lift the funnel away from the reservoir without spilling the contents. However, if you leave the engine run and heat-up, the thermostat will open fully and draw in the coolant mixture (and purge the bubbles).
