Blend Door Actuator Issues

Hello there. I‘ve recently been having issues with at least two blend door actuators clicking on my 2010 Chevrolet Impala LT. What would happen Is you would open the car door and one of the actuators would make a light clicking noise. Then another actuator would make a very loud clicking noise. I would start the car to drive and after about 30 seconds, the clicking would disappear.

One of the actuators was replaced a few months ago, but I feel that it’s the one making the light clicking noise. I don’t know if things have to be calibrated or not. I read many different methods. I have no scan tool. It’s so confusing with which method really works for a 2010. I’d appreciate any kind of help for this annoying issue.

Amazon has them in pairs or sets for very low price just locate where the clicking is coming from and that's the one that needs to be changed take a look at any video for that location or you can actually see some of them in view depending which year but Amazon has them and they're very decent hope it helps

I had to replace 2 of those in the 3 years I had mine the intake one in the center of the dash and one of the dual zone climate controls. I never had to scan em I just swapped it out. word of advice tho do not get a Dorman one get a GM one they are more but they are way better I had to replace 2 of the Dorman ones they are such a pain to remove the one for the intake I just plug it back in to open and close the door depending on time of year. the ones from the dual zone climate while hard to do they are FAR easier than that intake one lol.

You calibrate them by hooking the battery back up and turning on the ignition with both temp controls all the way HOT or all the way COLD
You'll hear the motors whirring and the flaps moving. Do not turn the key off or start the car til the noise stops. Usually they settle down in a few minutes. Wait til they're stopped for a minute or two or a little more then start the car and test the temps out the vents.

The same thing happens when you change the battery. Sometimes the ambient outdoor temp sensor looses sync when you disconnect the battery. I would check that the ambient temperature in the instrument cluster reads the real temp and not -20° or some other temp that's in no way connected to reality. If the sensor has lost sync with the HVAC controller you can reset the temp sensor sync by pressing and holding the Recirc and AC buttons at the same time.
