Today, I got fed up with the blend door actuator on my car clicking, and had to make a trip to a shop right across the street from the Chevy dealer. So I though, I'll get the part I need. The blend door actuator that went out on mine was the air inlet actuator. It is fairly simple to get to, you drop the glovebox. Look up near the top of the glove box door, you will see how to drop the glovebox all the way. There are two of the actuators they are easily accessible from the glove box. I believe the temperature svtuator is on the left, and the inlet actuator is further back on the right side. It is easier to drop the cover below the fan motor where the courtesy light is. Three clips. The you can reach your arm up there and feel for the 5mm screws, you just don't have the room to turn the wrench from the glove box opening. I didn't take any pictures because I couldn't due to cramped conditions, but one you see how yo let the glovebox swing all the way dow:WTF:n, its very straightforward. I believe in the dual zone climate controls there ate four actuators, two for for temperature control, one for the recirculate(air inlet) and one for the vent controls. The single zone climate control just condenses the two temp actuators into one. Anyway, it is an easy job to get to the two behind the glovebox, 15 minute job for the air inlet, 10 minutes tops for the temp control (?) if it is the first tome you have done them.

Agree. Just swapped mine out last week after living with it for a few months. Thought it was going to be much harder than it was.

so, does anybody know how long the new/replacement actuators last? hopefully longer than the stock ones... I have 3 of the 4 that are clicking now. Hmmm replace now, do it again in 4 years..... or disconnect them and somehow "lock" the doors. Sure is an irratating thing to deal with.:gaah:
The only one you would want to lock toils be the the air inlet door to the outside air setting. Two of them control your temperature settings, and you wouldn't want to do that. Playing sweat out or freeze put all the time? No thanks. And the fourth controls your defrosters. That would be the most dangerous one to disable, because it could directly affect your visibility. If you can't switch to defrost, and your window fogs up, you are screwed. As for the durability of the new part, I can't be sure on that. GM has issued a different part number, and they new part is by a different manufacturer. I am not sure if this is because the new manufacturer is cheaper, or if they fixed the problem. When I put my air inlet actuator in, I understood why one if the gears stripped. Those little bastards are torquey. They don't just shut the door and have a switch to tell it when to stop, the cutoff is pressure activated. And it take a lot of force for the actuator to realize it needs to stop.
07s came with wood grain? What about the techno metallic? I have it in my 06, Todd has it in via 09. I was under the impression that was what SSs had. Not wood grain. Do you understand now? I'm not drunk, my SS just doesn't have wood grain.

I think that's the name of the interior that comes with (most?) SSs its kinda silverish, not the coolest ever but I like it better than the wood grain
sho did. the previous owner stuck a couple of those things on there to hold a phone or whatever, and it fucked up the techno metallic. the plasti is so PERFECT! perfect color, feel, and textured look. but we gotta stop mucking up this thread with our bs

Yes, I'm pretty sure yours is called brushed aluminum. I could have my years reversed, but I'm almost positive.
is it the same part number for all four actuators? when i do a search i'm finding two different part numbers: 64-108 and 64-107
Replacement air inlet actuator different clicking!
I know this thread is a bit old but I was wondering if i could get some help. The actuator on the passenger side behind the glove box (the one on the far right, air inlet actuator i believe) of my impala started clicking like i've commonly seen around the web so i decided to swap it out. Problem is that when i put in the replacement, it starts making different clicking noise (much faster) and it makes it when I turn it to the inside air. I put in the old one and it didnt make that noise, just the one that it had been previously making. I hope i made sense and any help/comments are greatly appreciated! thanks!

What brand did you get? People tend to have problems with the aftermarket actuators right out of the box, you have to get the AC Delco ones if you want them to work right.
RockAuto now has ACDelco part # 1573517 and 1573516 for about $25 & 27... only question is, which one is right for my '11 LT...:dizzy::hope:
