Could a mountain bike fit in the 2012 impala's trunk. Looking to get a bike but would need to bring it up to 50 miles on occasion. Just want to see if anyone has any experience with this. Thanks.

If you have folding rear seats, yes.

How much disassembly are you willing/able to do?

Pull the wheels off, possibly take the pedals off of the cranks, then you can turn the handlebars sideways to slide the bulk of the frame in. Put the wheels and cranks in on top of that.

I would not put a bike in my Impala's trunk because for one thing I don't want to get a bunch of mud/dirt in my vehicle. That's in addition to the overall hassle. Consider installing a hitch and getting a rack, that's what I am doing.

8th gen with fold flat rear seat will fit a full size men's bike. I have done it several times when I was too lazy to put the hitch mounted rack on the car. No dis-assembly required.
