As many of you know so far, (cus i always say it when im in a thread) i have a 2000 Impala LS. i was just wondering if there were any other GM vehicles with PCMs that may be compatible. the main one i was thinkin of was maybe a 2000 Gran Prix. the thought hit my only because under the hood everything was setup the same way that my Imp is. had to pull an air compressor from one to throw into my Imp and someone already grabbed the PCM and only the PCM lol.

and now for the whammy, lets say IF the Gran Prix PCM (or any other if its even possible) was compatible with Impalas, would there even be an advantage at all? maybe i higher speed before limiter kicks in? better gear ratio? fuel consumption? things like that.

thanks

Do not go throwing another stock pcm in because you think something is better about the stock programming.

Custom pcm reprogramming is super easy to come by for GM vehicles.

You wont benefit from it. In fact you may run the risk of stuff not working, and tearing something up. Like mentioned, you come off better getting you current one tuned whenever you get some money. However be forewarned that whatever you ask for in your tune, the motor will act on it in. So make sure your mods are up to handle the computer's demands.

lol. i didnt mean gear ratios, i meant like shift points. :p but it doesnt matter anyway. i was just curious if it was possible and if it were, would there have been any advantages. the thought just popped in my head one day but its no biggie.
