I have a 406 chevy small block with pistons that require a set of 5.7 rods and I'mk wondering if they'll work because I have a set. They engine will be running at about 7500 to about 8500 RPMs for about 3 to 4 seconds. In a light weight mud racer.

I dont think that would last to long. Just because of the speed though. Power will matter but I have seen stock LT-1 style rods take 400++ hp daily driven for years, but if you are spinning that high I don't know. Whatever you do, balance it! That is awfully fast for a 406, and so balancing the rotating assembly is worth it and it will survive better. Also check your valve springs for the right pressures so you don't float a valve.
