In an effort to stay ahead of a pending possible trans failure issue, I am interested in knowing if an auto trans from say a 2004 or 2005 3.8 equipped Impala would be a direct swap into my 2000 3.8 Impala? Any parts compatibility concerns with such a swap? If this swap is not doable, can someone tell me what year trans will work? Also I was told that the 2000 model does not have a hardened output shaft??? They started using them in later years, can anyone comment on that?
Thanks.
Ken.
