:tongue:I have a 95 Caprice 9c1 and the steering box is getting sloppy. I found a steering box out of a 92 9c1 caprice. Is that steering box the same as the 95 or not? I can get the 92 pretty cheap, but I dont want it if it wont bolt up or if it has a different ratio than the 95.

(btw) I know Impala is spelled with 1 L not 2. I just use 2 L's in my ID.

I believe they are the same. My understanding is the 9C1 and Impala SS use the same ratio steering system.

I am no expert on steering gears, but I did check on Rockauto.com and compared the years and part no's. I looks like since they are both 9c1's they should bolt up. However the steering ratios may be different. I think the 92 has a 3 1/2 truns lock to lock while the 95 should have 2-1/2 turns. I did see different part numbers. Look on your trunk underlid for the SPID sticker and look for 7B3 (SEO suspension) on both cars. If they both have this code then I would think the 92 should work.
