So, my sister's MC is now having an issue with the transmission not going into gear when cold for nearly 10 minutes. We have to start the car, run it for 10 minutes in gear, then it finally shifts into first/reverse. Once it goes into gear, it runs just fine with no issues with shifting forward or back. Her boyfriend thinks it might be the fluid pump and wants to put it on the lift at his school to change it out. My dad wants to confirm that it is or isn't before even letting an 18 yo touch his car. Anybody? The engine is a 3100 btw.

Solenoids would be my guess... Sticking.

I wouldn't run it in gear while warming up though... Probably cause damage to the clutches.

yeah, when I do it I run it in P or N because I've heard that N runs everything like it's in gear but it isn't actually in gear.
