...crooked or "fall" crooked. my car never warms up on the temp. gauge. it is an 4.3L LT1 i know it has a reverse cooling system meaning my heads is the first place the coolant runs throught can it be my thermostat? also my windows " fall out of track" so to speak. is it a pin? or something broke? parts numbers would be helpful.

First of all is the radiator full? If water falls low enough, it will not touch temp sensor, and therefore will give no temp. reading, -- this is very risky, and if it is low enough, it will "boil",-- and push what is left out,. - and warp heads (or worse)!

If radiator full, then it must be thermostat (stuck open), -- which eventeually would read at least some on temp. gauge!problem described (above paragraph),--could be from a bad pressure cap, - which will let water push out possibly enough so doesn't reach temp bulb! Also water will not get as hot with bad pressure cap!

Waterpump is not probelm ,unless water (pump seal) is letting water leak out and getting below temp bulb as described above, -- If not working at all, "Guranteed" it will get very hot very quick!

It could be a thermostat,heater core,water pump, or radiator problem, Also check coolant level. Does your car blow out hot or warm air from its heater inside? Your windows fall out of track because your window guides (small plastic clips that clip on to the windows ) have fallen off or gone bad/worn out. replace em cost only a couple of dollars. Just ask a local parts store for window guides for your year and make. Also make sure you have 50 /50 coolant/water

FYI 5.7 = LT1
4.3 = L99 at least i'm pretty sure of it......:biggrin:

assuming you have enough fluid go for a ride and then "carefully" touch the hoses to see if they are warm. (2 rad hoses, 2 header core )
if they are warm almost too warm to touch bare handed then let assume flow is good and move on.
if T-stat is over 2yrs old just go buy a new one and pop it in (not good to through parts at the car but this should be fine and not break the bank)

test drive again, if the guage in car still dead then try to test the sensor, it's in the pass side cylinder head, close to firewall i think. (maybe time to scan pcm for codes ??)
Or through parts at it with a new sensor and test drive again.

you need to start ruling the easy things out.... Good Luck
-ALF out....:wink:

I am somewhat of a "mechanic" so I will say, the fellas here are right when they point out that you 4.3 liter 200 hp L99 is Not the 5.7 260hp LT-1 :)

As for your windows, its a very simple fix that requires taking off the door panel and inspecting the metal rail to find which plastic piece broke so you can replace it. I actually have those made for me and I sell them as well as repairs for the locals. Does not take much of anything as far as time and money go.

firs, your water temp sensor isnt even on the reservoir... its on the passenger side of the block at the bottom, near the knock sensor. secondly... your tem gauge would read somthing even if your thermostat wasnt installed. so i would guess you either have a broken wire, a bad sensor, or a bad gauge.

Order a window fix kit from impalassuperstore. Your cooling problem would be first to check level, then if lower than normal, check for leaks. Easiest way for me to spot a leak is too look for any tan stains anywhere.
