Hi, we have a 93 caprice police interceptor. Is the transmission a L60 or L80? Is timing gear steel or nylon clad?

Thanks

The 4L80 was never used in a car.
What you have is in the 700r4/4L60/4L60E family. Think it is the 4L60. It isn't bad if built carefully, gets a bad rap because people dump out the old parts and drop in new without paying attention to clearances and tolerance.

"police interceptor" is a crown vic thing. The "upgrades" to a police spec car 9C1 SPID code are NOT as grand as the Blues Brothers made them out to be. You have a low option RWD V8 car that might have the optional 350 rather than the 305, really NOTHING special. I love the Caprices, just going to be easier on you if you understand and admit what you have.
I have owned a '84, '85, 94 Wagon, 95 Roadmaster wagon, 96 Roadmaster wagon, and still own a 96 Caprice sedan. Not a hater just honest.
