8th Generation - Seat Configuration 5 passenger vs 6?

So on the 8th Generation there are basically 3 front seat configurations. The traditional 40/20/40 with the fold down center arm rest/storage compartment and flip up access to the cup holders and steering column shifter; the 5 passenger 40/40 bucket seats with the center console and shifter on the floor; and then special -police interceptor package that seems to have a center console but the shifter is still on the steering column. As you move up in years to the newer models, it seems like at some point the great majority of the non-interceptor vehicles have gone to the center console and shifter on the floor... Is this true that at some point they pretty much quit the steering column shifter at all?

My preference is the steering column shifter and full 6 passenger design (I've driven both). Comfort is big a part of it.

So anyone know if the last years of the Gen 8 were all either the 5 seat center console or the Interceptor police package?

I nearly bought a beautiful dk. blue 6-pass. 2012. Front bench/column shifter. Low miles, 1 personal owner and very affordable. Only hassle was I would have had to pick it up in N. Carolina or pay shipping. I'm in KC. I know the 6-pass/column shifter was an option for '12, but dunno for '13-'16 Limited.

Yep, I know for certain the 6 passenger configuration with column shift was available for 2012, beyond that though not sure. When we bought our 2012 new, I had a few different dealers I was pricing cars from. One of the 2012 lt's we were seriously considering was a 6 passenger model from a different dealer than we ended up buying from.
Thanks for the confirmation that there should be at least a few 2011-2012 models out there still with the 6 passenger. Seemed like in searching it is a very high (80 percent or higher- unscientifically observed) used models from 2009-2010 that I am finding in searching various sites. It is more frustrating when there are no interior photos as you shop used and they want you to come look at the vehicle.

The 2013-2016 are new enough that probably out of my budget right now unless I want to try and do a big finance deal paying out way too many years for my comfort.
Fwiw, youngest son got a '16 LT Limited last summer (2018) with 39k mi. for $9k. Another member on here recently purchased a '13 with 171k mi. for $4k.

I live in North Carolina, and when I was looking around at 8th gens, I found a silver one at the dealership. It was odd to me because I hadn't seen any like it at that point, then again, I was only looking at '12 or higher for the 300hp v6. It wasn't an LTZ and I was really set on the LTZ so I didn't really consider it, but it was nice.

Yes, while to occasional deal is out there like these, they go REALLY FAST and you have to be extremely lucky to find them and be able to strike a deal. For every one of these I can also quote seeing a 06 LT (pretty standard) with not so many miles for $7K on a used car lot out there too...

If anyone has a lead or sees a great deal like those (that runs and drives or could get there without spending as much on repairs and parts), that is fantastic. I tend to not be able to find those before they are sold or they are requiring major repairs or have been in a major accident and hence the low pricing.
Might get on the e-mail list for cargurus, cars.com, autotrader and carvana.
I hope you can find a good bench seat car. We had an '08 LT with dual power and heated leather bench seat column shift. The most comfortable car for long trips I have ever driven. It got totaled in Nov. 2014. What a shame.
