i checked engine codes on my truck lastnight it gave me an error code of 24 Vehicle speed sensor (VSS) - open or short circuit problems or park/neutral switch circuit problem and a code 44 Lean exhaust indicated (Left side on dual oxygen models).. My question is can any of the two problems that came up cause my truck to stop running while driving ?
Speed sensor was replaced about 2 months ago when speed o first went out. so lastnight i was leaving my house i pull out get a few blocks down the road and as i was driving it died so i put it in N started right up. got another few blocks and it did the same thing this time whould not start back up. so i took the air cleaner off to see if the injectors where spraying and BAM it fired back up drove the truck home. because it was only a few blocks and it didnt stall again. And checked codes as you all know 24,44 came up well not all sure if i should replace my O2 sensor o the left but hey its worth a try also going to take off the speed sensor and clean it with electric parts cleaner and see what happens from there. thanks for the input

Possibly. Running lean is a very bad thing and can cause detonation, which can destroy the engine. It really depends on how bad it is.

the lean exhaust indicates a lack of fuel ,and it could cause it to stall out,but it would start back, with today's cars and trucks when you get multiple trouble codes, anything is possible,i have seen just a bad 0-2 sensor shut one off right in the middle of the road,i own a shop and i see this all the time, you,ll have to get some of this repaired before you can find out for sure ,good luck with it.

The first one may cause it to stop running but usually it just causes a problem with shifting up on an automatic trans.

Odds are a tiny piece of metal broke off in your trans and is now stuck to the magnet on the speed sensor.
