i tried searching through some threads but couldn't find anything about possibly replacing the ambient lighting with led strips ? looking for a how-to on removing the ambient lighting, also wondering if the ambient lighting is a cover over a strip or if it's one piece ?

looking to replace it with this kit -- XKGlow® - Fiber Optic Multicolor LED Accent Light Kit
if that helps at all.

Ive been wanting to add the rear ambient lighting to my 2017 since it didint come with it. I took the door card off and turns out, it is the chrome applique with a channel behind it for a clear cylinder of plastic to run through, and I would assume there are lights at either end of it since it is basically working like a fiber optic. I did not do anything about it on my car because it will also require a new harness. But yeah, its 2 pieces basically. The chrome applique which can be seen from the interior of the car, and then the tube that runs behind it.
Do note, you cannot take off the applique without removing the entire door card. I dont remember exactly how I did it, but I believe there are 3 bolts, one behind the door handle, one in the arm rest, and one under the window switch. After that it should just be tugging on the panel to get it to pop out since it uses little plastic pieces to pressure fit into the door.

Part 13 is the clear fiber optic like tube that gets lit up. Part 21 is the harness.

Awesome, thank you so much for the information. Probably be a bit yet with the holiday coming up, but I'll post up some pics after I get it done. Appreciate the help !
