My 2014 impala ltz 2.5l has a u0101 code. I’d like to k so where to start Troublesbooting. The car will start but while driving with start locking and unlocking the doors the the gear I do store I’ll switch from drive to park or no indicator light at all. Also the service stabilitrac and power steering light will turn on and off. The car will be driving and the rpm will spike obviously it’s dropping into neutral. The shifting is pretty jerky while this is happening if it shifts at all. Mostly it will go from 3rd to neutral to park several times but the car is rolling and driving. It is intermittent I took it in last time and July the time the warranty underwriter showed a week later up the problem was gone. Fast forward about 6-8mo the and the problem is back and not warranty is expired.
Thanks in advance. And pictures of where to look and what for would be greatly appreciated

Load test the battery. It might have a couple weak cells or an internal shorting issue that will cause all kinds of issues with the electronics. Could also be a ground issue...
This isnt the 4cyl with e-assist i believe.

Same thing with my 2014 4cyl
No one can figure out what’s wrong with it
U0101 is a generic powertrain code, which means it has the same definition for the Chevy Impala as it would any other vehicle. It means that your Impala’s TCM (Transmission Control Module) can’t communicate with the rest of the vehicle, usually due to a bad wiring harness or an issue with the TCM itself.
U0101 is often misdiagnosed as a bad TCM before the wiring harness has been inspected.

Exact same thing with mine. Any suggestions on what’s causing it?
My 2014 Impala LT started doing this. I started trying to self diagnose it and started with the assumption it was an electrical issue not mechanical. I reseated all of the connections (ie ecu, tcm) making sure there were no bent pins. Restarted my car and it was fixed. Next time my car threw the "stablitrack" U0101 code I only did this to the main connection on the front of the transmission. It is one of those slide style wire connectors. It fixed it. Turns out the wire harness isn't very strong and has enough room to let it slide out making it "lose" connection throwing the car into limp mode.

14 Impala LTZ V6
i have had this issue going on and off non stop for 2 weeks. I, also thought it was my battery and bought a nice AGM battery. When i did sat down and diagnosed the issue, i found Harness connector X1 being loose and not the battery as most of the time, this issue is fixed. Electricity does put out a little bit of heat and now that this year the summers got hot, this U101 has become more and more common. The X1 connector carry power pins to TCM and ground as well. When the issue happened, i quickly pushed the harness connector (carefully but with force),towards the transmission, push the connector in more and you can hear the solenoids activate and door locks as well as the BCM now knows what position the transmission is in. I cleaned my contacts and added little dielectric grease. **Note how the harness is routed as the transmission hoses and power wire that leads to fuse box/battery is in the way and actually pushes down on the connector, adding stress to the connection.( imitating old ignition keys with janitor rings hanging for dear life on the ignition lock cylinder lol) i used the harness and some beauty ziptie to carefully route x1 harness. it's been 1 month and no issues yet.

*good luck *
