What kind of oil does my 2012 impala need? Has 103k miles. Didnt come with a manual. What brand would be best as well? I used to buy the speedway brand oil for my older cars as to not spend a bunch, but I wanna put the best in this impala

The 2012 is direct-injected, which is harder on oil - you want to use a full synthetic oil and personally, I'd recommend 5k mile oil change intervals. As to which brand, it's not that big of a deal. I like to stick with some of the bigger brands - Pennzoil, Mobile 1, etc..

What weight am I looking at? Someone said 5w30. I haven't really seen one way or another online

Yes, it's 5W30. Also, here is a link to an electronic version of the 2012 Owers Manual - will come in handy...

I've always had pre2000 cars (bar for my 03 element)
Apparently they all had replacement oil caps because when I popped the hood tonight it was clearly labeled and now I feel like an idiot

These cars also require 6 qts. of oil with an oil and filter change.

^^Good point.

Since oil is sold in 5 quart jugs, I usaully just buy two of them - that way I just need to buy a single 5 quart jug for the next 4 oil changes (since I can get the other quart from the "second" 5 quart oil jug). Just a little less expensive than buying a 5 quart jug and a 1 quart container of oil each time.

Any dexos 5w-30 oil. Be sure though that you are using a gm approved dexos 5w-30.

I use Mobil 1 because it's really good synthetic but also because most of the time they have the 5 quart jugs with a free single quart bottle shrink wrapped to it, works perfect for vehicles that require 6 quarts per change.
