Hello Folks,

I'm almost done getting my PS pump out, but I can't get this nut to release, even when using Sir Perry BB. Laster (as you can tell by the gentle rounding of the nut). Assuming that I've got a 5/8'' wrench on the nut. Do I swing the back end towards the trunk of the car (pink arrow) or to the front (green arrow)? I have a diagram below. I think the pink arrow is the direction I'm supposed to be swinging the wrench, but I'm not sure.

I'm only asking because I have screwed up my wrench navigation at times.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Top of wrench goes counterclockwise to loosen and clockwise to tighten

You may want to buy, borrow, or if possible rent the proper size flare wrench to provide more contact area on the nut points than what you are using. Below is a link to a set but I do not own these nor am I endorsing them. I am using the link as a reference only.

Fwiw, Harbor Freight Tools offers flare/line wrenches for cheap too.

WOW! I had no idea that those wrenches existed. Would have saved me a lot of time and heartache.

You may also want to insure the nut you are trying to loosen is standard and not metric. That may explain why your 5/8" wrench is rounding off the points.

It's a 15MM fitting nut

Fwiw, 16mm is real close to 5/8".
