how many of you ever look at the bottom of the inside of your doors. Well I have a 2012 with 7000 miles 1 year old. Its going in to have all 4 doors redone. If you look gm did not use seam sealer and rust and the water base paint don't help. Have any of you had this problem.

Actually, when I wash my 2012 Impala (which is white), I always wipe the inside of the doors and I definitely do *not* have any rust at the bottom of my doors - that sounds very strange for such a new car... What area do you live in, if you don't mind me asking?

Sorry to hear all that. I'll keep a watch on my 2012. Did you take any pics by chance so we can see just what happened. Thinking maybe something was missed on your vehicle specifically. But maybe not. Got some clear coat flaking on mine but I'm past the 36000 mile warranty period. Seems like longevity on paint and panels wasn't a big priority.

that sucks...i can offer two tips

After you was the car take a can of WD40 with the straw and spray liberal amounts into the drip holes at the bottom of the doors and on the leading edges of the hood and trunk lid. WD40 is a water displacement and will keep the water away from the metal and allow it to dry without rusting. I better method would be to have something like Krown applied once a year but its very scarce in the US. I but the Krown product and use it on my cars instead of WD40

If your garage is humid it makes the car rust faster and you are better off leaving it outdoors. A couple examples, some heated garages are humid because the heat is not vented properly while some garage floors sweat in spring and fall.

Would love to see some pictures of this - just so we know what exactly to look for, and where... Can you please post a pic or two?

Good luck in getting it taken care of - I'm sure it'll be fine since you caught it pretty early.

2011 Chevy Impala rust on the bottom inside of all four doors

I have a 2011 Chevy impala with rust on the inside of all four doors, I have tried to get GM to take care of this but my car has 88K miles. The rust started appearing at 30K. My car is and has always been garaged kept.

Can you post some pics of it? I'm really curious to see exactly how bad it is and exactly where it is.

I have a 2012 with ~50k miles on it (also garage kept) and so far I have not noticed any rust. Although, I do clean the bottom of the doors every time I wash the car (really, just wipe the off)...

Thanks.

I have an older 07 but I noticed rust forming on the bottom of the front passenger side door only, Seems to be a bad thing that comes up on GM cars, Although as my car ages that door is a slightly different color of black and its making me wonder if there was something at certain plants that may not have protected the metal as well...

Im not the only one with this problem. I have an 08' impala ltz with 105k and it has rust on both rear doors at the seams where the door curves. Not noticable from a distance as well as outside of the doors when they're closed. I also have bubbling paint on the RR quarter panel above where the rear bumper meets the body. I do plan on getting these issues fixed and my car only has a 6000 mile or 6 month warranty left on it.

Now I am gonna have to inspect our 12, had never heard of this being an issue before now. It is due for a washing anyway.

For what it's worth, my doors (08, 110k miles) has rust at the fold on the bottom of all four doors. It's not visible at all from the outside.

I took a wire brush to them, got what rust off I could and sprayed a rust-stop treatment that is supposed to stop the rust from getting worse. It seems to have slowed it down, but I either didn't do it right or it requires another treatment soon.

I'll have to do the same and scrape away what rust is there and put some rustolium on them or have a shop do it professionally. Thanks for the tip though! :)
