2009 Impala LT 3.5L - WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD, REVERSES NO PROBLEM

I have had the same issue as this before and it ended up being that the rear emergency drum brake fell apart and would wedge in place when driving to drive forward, locking up the rear wheel. For whatever reason it moved in reverse. I would think if you could feel the car grabbing the forward gears and moving just a little bit, the transmission is probably fine. I would jack the car up and see if you can rotate the rear wheels forward while they are in the air. If not, take the wheel off and remove the rotor to see if the brake pads for the ebrake came apart.

Yes, you may be correct about that. I tried moving the car forward again and it moves about a foot or two then locks up. Which rear wheel did you have your issue with? Thanks for the help
I can't remember what wheel it was. You will need to check both. Or you can try hitting the pedal harder in drive and see if it drags a wheel. If its the ebrake it wont damage anything, but if its something else, you might not want to. Id recommend lifting both of the ground and seeing if they both turn freely.
