Changing the supercharger pulley is a quick way to add some horses.

08 SS has the 5.3
you could do heads, cam, etc.. most LSS mods will work on the 5.3, i know the heads are usable on the LS1, so i assume you could buy some alum. LS1 p&p heads, cam etc for this engine as well, you could also look into a CSC, the crak is however 13-14mm shorter, so a stroker kit wont necc. work.. How mucj are you looking to spend?
you could alos pick up a Diablo tuner or HP Tuners as well...

Having that much power to the front wheels, I wonder what that would be like. Hard to steer?

Not really hard to steer it spins the front wheels evenly so I go in a straight line.
