I'm having the transmission fluid and filter changed tomorrow. Going to add some Lucas Transmission Fix. Hopefully this will do the trick. Fingers crossed.
2007 Impala SS Trouble Changing Gears
Hii. I have an '07 SS and it has been stuttering in high gear and making a whining noise while in low gear.
The transmission fluid reads full and then empty on the dipstick.
Today it wouldn't go into gear and then it magically went into gear. The shifter cable is in place so it's not that.
I'm thinking that the transmission fluid's flow is being prohibited or the pump is faulty maybe.

Are you checking the fluid with the car warm after it has been run through the gears? If it is low on the dipstick, then it is low and could cause damage. Would not drive it at all if it is low on the stick.The transmission fluid reads full and then empty on the dipstick.
I'll keep that in mind from now on. I've been told to check it when it's just started and now to wait until it's warm. It's hard to find a good transmission guy around my area.
Ok, there were metal shavings in the pan. Apparently that indicates a bad torque converter. Gotta have the tranmsision rebuilt.
on my 2010 which is the non heavy duty version transmission as your SS, you check it once the car has hit full temp (really it takes a while to warm up the trans after the engine hits full temp during a drive). once the car is warmed up under normal driving conditions then check the fluid.

Good to know. I believe the reason it was showing empty is because the fluid contained metal shaving from the torque converter. The shavings were clogging the filter I believe.
I'm having the transmission rebuilt next week.
